Chance favors or Roth matters?

I struggled for a while with the name of this weblog. Eventually, I decided on the name “chance favors”… with “roth matters” coming in a close second.

“Chance favors” is a bit of a play on words, as you can take it to mean a few different things. For instance, you may have come upon this page, by chance, and you may take something from it that will be of use to you, consider it a favor of sorts:)

The name also conjures thoughts about how luck and timing play a big part in all of our lives…which is getting closer to the real reason I decided to go with “chance favors”.

“Chance favors” is really only part of the title phrase. The full expression that inspired the name of this site is “chance favors the prepared mind.” An expression my dad often used… to remind my brother and I what it takes to be successful and get a leg up in the game of life.

Well, since that phrase has always rung true, I thought it a fitting title for this blog. Being a financial plannner for over a decade now… one of the most common problems I see all the time is how unprepared people are for the future. We all have dreams but very few have a plan…

Btw… my next post will explain why “roth matters” was a close second in the name game…
