Originally, I wanted to name this blog “Roth matters”. Once again, a play on words, much like the name I eventually settled on.
But I realized many of you may not know the significance of the word “Roth” so it would have made little sense.
Well here’s a bit more background on the name… Roth is the last name of the late Delaware senator William V. Roth Jr. who is responsible for bringing us the Roth IRA (Individual Retirement Account) born on January 1, 1998.
From a personal finance perspective, the Roth IRA is one of the most important pieces of legislation ever passed. If used to its fullest extent, the Roth IRA is a very powerful resource that can and will have a direct impact on the average Americans quality of life.
So important to me, that I wanted to dedicate my entire blog to talking about “all things” Roth and helping to create the awareness I think it deserves.
As you can tell from that last paragraph I think the Roth IRA REALLY REALLY matters… and thats why I nearly named the site “Roth matters”.
But at the end of the day I decided against it because I didn’t want to be pigeonholed into only talking about the Roth IRA. I want to cover a broad spectrum of financial issues affecting my generation, including, but not limited to, the mighty mighty Roth IRA.
I hope to make all you GenX’ers out there aware that you need to start planning NOW to secure a better future and I plan on giving you lots of tips on how and where to get started…
