Blown away daily

In my Blogging is beautiful II post a couple days ago I forgot to mention that I recently added a blogroll to the right hand column. These are some of my favorite ‘personal finance’ blogs.
I’ll probably add a few more as time goes by, but for now I’m going to try and stick to best of breed, to borrow a phrase often quoted by Jim Cramer.
Still a newbie
I’m in my fifth month of blogging and I’m starting to get a better idea of how all of this works. Throughout this process I have discovered some excellent personal finance blogs. Some days I can spend hours reading from these blogs, and often I have to be careful to not spend too much time there.
I’ve made this statement before and I’ll say it again, “I’m so happy to have discovered this world and am blown away (daily) by the creativity and hard work many people put into their blogs.”
A source of inspiration
I’ve gotten excellent ideas from many of these blogs, in regards to layout, sometimes content, but mostly a better sense of how a successful blog holds itself. The style of writing, the daily commitment to original, thought provoking content. The vulnerability and honesty that many of these bloggers bring to the written word makes reading them a must.
The way many of these blogs foster an interactive community experience makes me a little jealous. I don’t have hardly any commenters yet and I look forward, tremendously, to the day when I can chime in on the debate over Roth IRA Conversions or Down Home planning calculators or the future of social security or mutual fund share classes or fee based advisors or whose going to win the US Open next year etc.
Coming out of my shell
The lack of traffic and my anemic FeedBurner numbers are really my own fault. Although I’ve added a lot of content in the past 5 months+, I’ve been living in a bit of a bubble over here. I have not reached out to many of these blogs, mostly reading in quiet anonymity.
I understand that you get what you give in life and so far I have not participated. I plan on changing that very soon! I want to become a much more active member of the blogging community and will begin to contribute to many of my favorite blogs.
I’m ready to take this leap of faith:)
Please understand I have chosen not to interact (to date) for a number of reasons that I may (or may not) detail in a future post. At this point there is no turning back for me and I’m ready, as my dad would say, to get mucked in…
