Just last week I added the ‘My Two Cents’ category to my blog, along with the image of those shiny pennies that you now see above my picture to the right.
Why?
Because my most popular blog post to date, called ‘My Two Cents on 12 Investing Mistakes and How You Can Learn From Them’, was also one of the most enjoyable for me to write.
And I thought this would be a great way for me to express my opinions on the most interesting personal finance articles I come across from around the web. I Stumble so many posts each week, it should be pretty easy to pick one and add My Two Cents, right?
Fond Memories
I vividly remember how easy it was to write the first ‘My Two Cents’ post that night, with the words just flowing out. It’s how I had envisioned each and every post at the start of my blogging career. I can report they haven’t all been that way, but I’d like to try and recapture that pleasurable feeling and share it with you.
So, I’m looking forward to this series and think it’ll be a lot of fun to write and I hope to read, as well. For now I won’t set a specific day of the week, just look out for the words ‘My Two Cents’; click on it in my tag cloud, or go up and rub those shiny cooper pennies together with your mouse.
Take a peak
A quick glimpse into what I’ll be covering in the next ‘My Two Cents’ which will be going up on Monday or Tuesday of the coming week:
My Two Cents On Avoiding Cell Termination Fees, Unlimited Data Plans and Cutting Your Cable Bill in Half
- On January 7th, Patrick at Cash Money Life wrote a nice post pointing out different ways to cancel your cell phone contract without paying fees. I’m in the midst of following many of his recommendations and will report back on what I find.
- On January 21st, Madison at My Dollar Plan followed up on Patrick’s piece and wrote about the incredible Sprint SERO plan with the unlimited data plan. I’ve heard some mixed reviews from Sprint customers and am hesitant to take the plunge. We shall see?
- Way back when, on November 9th of 2007 Pinyo at Moolanomy alerted readers to a triple play package Verizon was offering new customers. He was able to reduce his monthly charges by $50 and on top of that Verizon threw in a free 19′ flat screen TV. Unfortunately, that deal expired while I procrastinated. The good news is they’re currently running a similar deal that expires on 02/03/08. So I’m back on the fence and wondering whether or not to pull the trigger again.
Peaking Curiosity
I hope you can come on back for the exciting conclusion;)
Find out if I was successful getting out of my existing phone contract, if the SERO plan is as good as it sounds, and whether or not Verizon Fios is coming to Northeast Queens…

This is a great idea. Keep up the good work.
Also, when you sign up for Verizon. Get the free HDTV receivers deal — I didn’t go for this and it would cost $99-$149 per box. Moreover, if you ever were a Verizon customer, ask about any “win back” offers. In short, there’s a lot of offers, ask the rep to review them with you. My rep didn’t review all the offers with me and I missed out on a lot.

Thanks Pinyo, I’ve already bitten the bullet at this point with Verizon and don’t think I can go back now. Will post my findings and my experience later this afternoon.
Appreciate the heads up on all!
