eye of the stormI have now entered into my 10th month of blogging, I started on July 9th of last year. During that time, there have been some pretty big swings, emotional and otherwise (much like the investment markets themselves), and Chance Favors has zigzagged in a few different directions over that time.

I think blogging is an evolutionary process… let me correct that - I know blogging is an evolutionary process. You have this picture in your mind of where you want to go with your precious cargo and it never quite turns out that way, things change.

Dealing With The Ups and Downs

I’ve read many times over - that you have to find your voice and your blogging comfort zone. Well, I’m here to say that is very very true and I have struggled mightily along the way.

There have been days where I’ve been elated by some little bit of success and channeled that positive energy for hours on end. There are days where I sit in from of the key board almost loathing it, depressed by it - the key letters as foreign as another language.

What I’m seeing out there

seeingBefore I write many of these posts I do alot of reading in advance. I do this to bring myself up to speed on the topic at hand or to brainstorm new ideas or to find useful tidbits that I hope are interesting and relevant, etc.

Lying in your beds

regretI’m still pumped up from writing about all those TAX FREE withdrawals but I’m also in a bit of pain right now. I went for a run at lunchtime today and sat by the water for a half hour and somehow caught a bad sunburn… my poor fair skin.

I’ve never been too good at judging the sun’s intensity, especially when there’s a bit of wind like there was this afternoon.

I know I should just stay out of the sun but from time to time I’m seduced by the siren song and promise of a bronzed complexion… or in my case a less pale complexion. I can’t help it, sometimes you don’t always want to be the whitest guy on the beach… haha. OK enough feeling sorry for myself, time to get focused here and get my mind off the burn…

The future

I want all the GenXer’s to really understand the benefits of investing for your future and why this needs to be addressed sooner than later. From my perspective, I see clients all the time and most of them are lucky enough to have secured their retirements’ and legacies.

Whats in a name anyway?

namechanceOriginally, I wanted to name this blog “Roth matters”. Once again, a play on words, much like the name I eventually settled on.

But I realized many of you may not know the significance of the word “Roth” so it would have made little sense.

Well here’s a bit more background on the name… Roth is the last name of the late Delaware senator William V. Roth Jr. who is responsible for bringing us the Roth IRA (Individual Retirement Account) born on January 1, 1998.
